3oth May 2015

On Saturday we held Lift for Lyme Disease. A deadlifting competition to help raise money for Lyme Disease awareness. We had a dozen athletes compete in both the mens and women’s division and raised $500 for the cause. All proceeds are going to Ward’s Gym member Jayne Moore’s Half Marathon Run Melbourne in support of her nephew who suffers from Lyme Disease. She aims to raise awareness for Lyme Disease Australia. Congratulations to Russell Bowe for taking out the mens division with a 262kg lift at 90kg body weight and Jenni Cook for taking out the women’s division with a 165kg deadlift at 61kg body weight. Both athletes just shy of 3 times bodyweight lifts. Awesome effort guys. Big thanks to The Wod Life for sponsoring the event.

22nd-24th May 2015

Last weekend we travelled to Wollongong to watch Coach Cal compete at the CrossFit Games Pacific Regionals against the best CrossFitters from Australia and Asia. Three days of intense competition and crazy workouts he finished up 23rd overall after what started with more than 10,000 entrants from Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Awesome Effort. Big thanks to all the members that made the journey and everyone else watching online and supporting from home. Your support was overwhelming. Big love to all our Ward’s Gym family.

31st January 2015

Last weekend two of our athletes headed to Bangkok’s Annual Bangkok Brawl. We’re super proud of Brad and Kara for stepping up and competing, big effort to travel to another country on their own to compete without the support of the whole team there. Not only that they kicked some ass while they were there. Brad finishing 7th overall in his first comp and Kara taking out second place overall in the RX’d division, one point off taking out first place. Awesome effort guys!!!

11th-12th October 2014

Our Open Team consisting of Mark, Joe, Steph and Candy also made the final. And our Advanced Team made up of Coach Gav, Jenni, Kara and Steve took top spot on the podium finish first. 24th-26th May 2013

Last weekend 8 of us went up to support Callum in the CrossFit Games Australia Regionals held in Wollongong. The top 48 Male competitors from a pool of nearly 5,500 CrossFit Open entries from Australia and New Zealand  went head to head in 7 gruelling workouts over three days. Callum battled it out against Australia’s elite finishing as well as 13th on one of the workouts and earning himself front page coverage on the games website. After 3 days of competition he finished in 34th place overall, a great result for his first year competing at Regionals. Look out next year.

Australia Day Weekend 2013

We took a team of 8 back to Mildura to compete in the State of Origin CrossFit Classic held by CrossFit YouFit on the banks of the Murray River. Amazing weather and an incredible backdrop provided us with the perfect setting to battle it out with 50 competitiors in each division. We had probably the smallest team going into the competition but our results speak for themselves with 5 of us finishing in the top 20, 3 of which finished in the top 10 and 1 getting a 3rd place on the podium. Here are some snap shots from the event courtesy of Frankie Lee Matthews and Sarah Peace.
