I have always been into fitness and competing my whole life, from the young age of 6years I started swimming and competed in many different sports. I started weightlifting during high school which lead me to receiving my Cert. 3&4 in fitness and beginning my Personal Training career.

After 6 years of running a Personal Training business and trying to train I decided to take a year off to focus purely on my Martial arts, this is where I decide to stop all the bodybuilding type training and stick purely to functional training (CrossFit). After 15 BJJ fights, an Amateur MMA Win and a Victorian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Title I decide to get back into Personal training. That’s when I opened my own Studio which is now home to many advanced and amateur athletes who train and compete together.

Like my brother sport has always been a major part of my life. From humble beginnings at our local swimming pool and little athletics club I’ve always had a burning desire to compete and to try every sport I possibly could. Through high school my desire to win only intensified as the level of competition increased competing at both State and National level across Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country, Football and Baseball. Weight training has always been a constant for me throughout my life regardless of what sport I’ve participated in. It wasn’t until I became heavily involved in Martial Arts that I started to focus more on functional movements rather than just working on my beach muscles. In 2007 I discovered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it was love at first sight. I’ve been doing it 5-6 times a week ever since, to date I have multiple Victorian, Australian & Pan Pacific Titles under my belt. The technical aspect of BJJ combined with the core strength required has held me in good stead for the transition into CrossFit.

I’ve coached and trained athletes across a broad range of sports over the past 15 years. I’m very fortunate to have trained all over the world and learnt from some of the best coaches from different sporting backgrounds. From this I have acquired a plethora of knowledge and skills that I have taken, fine tuned and shared with athletes to help them achieve their own fitness goals. I love to learn new skills and am not one to quit. Why else would I choose a martial art that takes on average 10 years of dedication to achieve the status of Black Belt.

My instructor once told me “A Black Belt is a White Belt that never quits.” I believe this to be true with everything in life. Never give up, always keep learning, keep improving, share what you know and be humble.

It all started when I ran on to the court for my first basketball game at the age of 7. In the following years I competed at Eastern Zone in Cross Country and 400m sprint, then throughout high school I captained the girls Aussie Rules Football team, while also competing in field hockey, netball, soccer and athletics just to name a few. You could say I have a love of all sports and fitness.

For the past three years I have trained under Callum and Gavin Ward at Ward’s Gym and competed in numerous CrossFit competitions as an individual, pair and part of a team. The next step was for me to complete my Crossfit Level 1 with a view not only to grow and improve my own skills but use what I’ve learnt to help others achieve their goals. My most recent achievements include winning the PTC Novice Powerlifting competition; Powerlifting is something I enjoy and look forward to more competitions in the future, hopefully I can can shake things up and break some records along the way. A highlight from 2014  was when I held the Women’s light weight (31-35) Australian Record for indoor 500m row.

Where to now? At Wards Gym I am continually nurtured as an athlete and also as a coach, motivated to always further my ability and education, as I increase my knowledge base and skill set I will only continue  to grow and excel. I can honestly say I look forward to coaching / training everyday.

  • Club Weightlifting / Sports Power Coach Level 1
  • Crossfit Gymnastics Trainer
  • Crossfit Certified Judge
  • ELITE SG Olympic Weightlifting Meet – 2nd Runner Up

Since I was young, I’ve loved challenging myself to get better each day and that was when I found sports to be most fulfilling in life. From representing my high school in soccer and badminton to competing in marathons and triathlons, I eventually stumbled across Crossfit in 2014 during my service as a Military Police Instructor in the Singapore Armed Forces and came to love everything about it.

As I progressed through the sport, I developed a strong passion for Olympic Weightlifting late in 2015 and eventually decided to hold off crossfit temporarily to further specialise in this field.

As much I love to compete, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and watching the people around me grow stronger and this was how I made a move into the coaching world. If you happen to see me in the gym and want to know more about weightlifting or gymnastics, feel free to slip in a question or two!

Unlike the majority of coaches, I can’t say that sport, fitness, or even health have always been a big part of my life. In fact not that long ago I was a regular visitor to Maccas and drank and smoked whatever I could get my hands on.

Since moving from Auckland to Melbourne in 2013 and completing my Cert III and IV in fitness my life has changed dramatically and I honestly feel it has only just begun. I began working as a personal trainer 2 years ago, unsure of where I fit in an industry with so many niches, until I discovered functional training and my love (obsession) of Crossfit began. As my own training progressed I gained my Level 1 Strength & Conditioning and then Crossfit Level 1 Coach certification in order to develop a greater understanding of the methodology to use with my own clients.

Joining the team at Wards has increased my love for Crossfit tenfold and I consider myself beyond lucky to both train and work with such a strong and supportive community. I’m always impressed and envious when other trainers tell me their lengthy lists of sporting achievements, and have to remind myself that I was once the girl who regularly ordered a cheeseburger combo with an extra cheeseburger (with mayo), and couldn’t even do one pull-up. Everyone has to start somewhere.
